It has been a distinct privilege for those of us at Reformed Heritage Church who have been taking part in our monthly prayer vigil outside of the main Planned Parenthood Clinic/Abortion Mill in San Jose ( 1691 The Alameda, San Jose, CA 95126 ). We meet on every 3rd Saturday of the month throughout the year, from 10 AM to 12 Noon.
We gather together to bring all of our requests before the Lord with perseverance ( Philippians 4:6, 1 Thessalonians 5:17 ), specifically in regard to the sin of abortion and its widespread consequences. Our prayers are offered as intercessions to stop the premeditated murders in the wombs of our innocent, defenseless unborn brothers and sisters. As well, we pray for the salvation and transformation of their parents, and we ask that the Lord would change the hearts of all the clinic staff, including nurses and doctors, so that they would repent and then cease the terrible deeds that they perform. In addition, we confess our own complacency and blindness regarding our nation’s sin of continuing this massive shedding of innocent blood, and we pray that our Lord God also would convict more of our pastors and our brothers and sisters in the Lord to speak out more boldly against this widespread evil.
We believe that, when the church regains its biblically based zeal and proper prophetic role regarding the sin and tragedy of abortion, our Sovereign God then will “… hear from heaven and and will forgive their [our] sin and heal their [our] land. ” (2 Chronicles 7:14).
We know that this struggle at its core is a spiritual one (Ephesians 6:12). As a result, we not only pray but we also ” …take up the whole armor of God ” (Ephesians 6:13) as we engage in this spiritual battle. As such, we also read Scriptures, discuss articles from pro-life sources, and sing hymns. In addition, we attempt to respond with the gospel truth in love whenever we’re approached by passersby with questions or accusations (Ephesians 4:15, 6:10-18).
Finally, we strongly feel it is essential that there be a visible presence of the Body of Christ outside of these facilities, representing God’s biblical standard of the sanctity of human life, which He has created “…in His own image ” (Genesis 1:27), to contrast with abortion’s culture of death. We are seeking the involvement in our prayer vigil of not only the membership of Reformed Heritage Church, but also of believers from other Christian congregations.
We would sincerely cherish your prayers, and we would be greatly blessed and encouraged to have you join us.
